Follow with us Day 3

Read:  Matthew 26:36-27:31

Bible Point: No matter what people do...Trust God!

Why it Matters: Think back to what it was like to be a kid.  Remember how important it was to fit in with your friends?  Chances are, you picked up their speech patterns, clothing style, music tastes, and habits-- even if you knew those things weren't very good.  Standing up for what's right is hard for kids and  adults.  That's why Day 3's Bible point is an encouragement to put our trust in God, regardless of what people around us might be doing.  We have the opportunity to reach out to kids who might be bullied, ignored, or abused.  Using Day 3's Scripture and Bible point help kids stay strong and rely on God.

"But those who trust in the Lord with find new strength.  They will soar high on wings like eagles." Isaiah 40:31

Day 3

Sheldon was in quite a fuss during Day 3 opening.  Someone had made him very mad because he had lied and Sheldon did not like it.  Molly was able to talk to Sheldon and let him know to Trust God in all things and Sheldon was able to calm down by the end of the night.  Phew!

We are beginning to learn all the moves to our Sky songs and are enjoying singing and dancing at opening.

Crew 9

In Day 3's High Flying Diner the kids helped make Rootbeer Floats (Clouds Floating on the sky).  Yum!
Every last drop!

During Spotlight Drama Crews 10,11 and 12 were able to help make the closing slide show.  Here are some of their fun pictures!

While out in the field taking pictures we found a "God Sighting".
This hot air balloon was floating over First Christian Church.
Powerful!

These pictures make it hard to see the whole effect of Wild Blue Bible Adventures during day 3.  When you walked into the parlor it was a pitch black maze.

Garden of Gethsemane
The Whip used on Jesus
Jesus' crown of thorns
Pontius Pilots throne where he washed his hands of Jesus

The children were led through the maze stopping at each station to learn more about Jesus.  The kids were each given a small battery candle to lead then through the dark forest maze.

During closing on Day 3 the crews were given 1 minute to share something hurtful that someone has said to them at some point in their lives.
The crew leaders then took turns weighing Sheldon down with their mean word balloons.
This made Sheldon very sad.

When Sheldon was so weighted down with mean grudges he couldn't hug his friends, go out to play, give a handshake or any other fun things that make life fun!

Molly came and showed how when we Trust God we can let go of those hurtful things.  When we Trust God we can let go of mean words.  When we Trust God we can let go of the bad things in life.
As the balloons floated to the top of the sanctuary the kids were given a very powerful visual effect of what God can do if we Trust Him!

Follow with us: Day 2

Read:  John 11

Bible Point:  No Matter How You Feel...Trust God!

Why it matters:  Kids today are given loads of weighty information that children ten years ago didn't have to process.  News of war, famine, disaster, poverty, instability, divorce, or celebrity downfall can hit a child's brain all in one day.  This influx of heavy information is likely to bring up emotions like fear, confusion, hopelessness, and disappointment.  We need to guide kids with the Bible truth that we can rely on God, no matter how we feel. We want to guide kids in their discovery that God cares about how we feel and is always trustworthy.

Don't let our hearts be troubles.  Trust in God. (John 14:1)

Day 2

A great night 2 at Sky VBS!  We had 78 kids in attendance for a total of 91 different kids this week so far!  God is good!
We will be taking pictures of all 15 crews throughout the week to post here.

Crews 8 and 9 were up for Spotlight drama tonight.  Here are some of their funny photos!

Everything IS possible with God!

In Imagination Station the kids made "clouds" with Ivory Soap and the microwave.  The small hall smelled wonderful!  They took 1/2 bar of Ivory soap, put it into the microwave on a microwavable plate for 2 minutes and the soap expanded to form a puffy cloud.  If you try this at home PLEASE note: the soap is very hot when it comes out of the microwave and no matter how tempting, do not put your finger into the middle of the "cloud"

During Wild Bible Adventrues the children we taken to Lazarus' tomb.  It was a very cool experience for the children!
The tomb and Pastor Greg leading the preschoolers into the cave.
Exploring the cave with the lights on...
Andrew in the cave with the lights off! The tomb/cave was big enough/tall enough for Andrew to stand almost totally upright inside.
This was a very exciting experience for everyone!  Well done guys!
